Abrasive Company Links
There was once a time when a machine tool company was an autonomous entity, designing, building, marketing, servicing and supporting its products. Today, it seems, that that way of doing business is rare. To be more financially competitive, machine tool companies are being absorbed into large conglomerate groups of companies under a single umbrella of management, marketing, finance and in some cases, service, with a glimmer of individuality remaining in the areas of design and build. It is not a perfect world, but with so many of the famous names in machine tools now extinct, staying alive means having to give up complete control for the benefit of sharing in the vast resources of a large holding company. The economy of scale is key to financial survival but ultimately it is the innovative science and technology that will insure success. Precision grinding and abrasive machining and technology are the only means by which the next generation of materials can be fabricated. Large chip processes like milling, turning and broaching cannot technically or economically machine these materials. Superalloys, ceramics, cermets and whisker reinforced materials can only be machined with abrasives technology. The future is bright for grinding.

It is somewhat helpful to categorize the companies with respect to their grinding processes however, due to the conglomerates holding such a variety of machine types, they may appear more than once on the page. We are trying to put together a comprehensive and current list, so if you see any changes or additions please let us know.
